When watching the film Batman: Under the Red Hood, I found myself- for one of the first times agreeing with the bad guys: Batman, Why do you let criminals live? Its seems that Gotham Asylum has an ancient security system and has a staff that can either be paid off, shot, bribed or simply beaten into leaving their post- so why allow so many criminals to be incarcerated to only be released through some random chance event?
Like the Red Hood (aka post-Lazarus Bath and after being beaten with a crow bar) but why does Batman continually allow criminals to live acting as if they deserve anything but a bullet but yet ignore the thousands of live lost by the insanity of the villian. Why not just shoot the Joker knowing that it would be an end you all your problems? Keep in mind, I don’t mean kill him out of revenge but simply justice. It like, why keep putting a convicted pedophile in the presence of children- he is just going to keep molesting kids until he either dies or is killed off- this is not a slippery slope issue. Put simply, some people don’t deserve justice.
Best Quote of the Film:
Jason Todd: Ignoring what he’s done in the past. Blindly, stupidly disregarding the entire grave yards he’s filled, the thousands who’ve suffered, the friends he’s crippled. You know I thought, I thought I would be the last person you’d ever let him hurt. If it would have been you he beat to a bloody pulp, if he had taken you from this world, I would have done nothing, but, search the planet until I found this pathetic pile of evil death worshiping garbage! And sent him off to hell!
Batman: You don’t understand. I don’t think you will ever understand.
Yes, we have a criminal justice system for a reason but why keep fighting and re-fighting the same criminals Batman? Another question that I have about most all Batman films or any action film for that matter is:
Why are they always fighting in the rain?
Why do they always have to climb to higher grown to fight?
Why are they talking so much during the fights? its like an episode of Dr. Phil
Who has the intent to kill someone but sets the bomb to explode in 20 seconds? giving everyone enough time to diffuse it or run.
In the end, I was left with another reason to dislike Batman. I mean, I sympathize with Jason Todd/the Red Hood, because if the Joker killed someone close to me I would stop at nothing to destroy them. Also, it may have been me but when did Batman become so homoerotic? Any man that likes to take young boys under his wings, dress them up in tights and watch them film around has the undertones of another Jerry Sandusky.
