Matthew 28: 19 says, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”- needless to say, I agree with that scripture but I have a problem with Mary Mary’s upcoming new reality series for the simple idea, that I believe ,they are a ’1 hit wonder’ and wish to ‘get back in the game’. Keep in mind, that was not my thought of the show originally until I heard one of there sisters lament the fact that they have yet to produce another song as successful as ‘Shackles’
Well, let’s look back at the sisters when ‘Shackles’ came out. They were these two gospel sisters that were piggy-backing on their soulful sound and church-choir performance. Flash forward to now when a ticket buyer can look forward to nappy hair, tight pants and a watered down message. I guess we should look for out next sermon in ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’.
I am sorry but I am tired of hearing Christians water down the ministry to sell albums or to pack their church. The Bible is clear on some things and not so clear on others, one of the things I think it covers is looking like a glorified prostitute to get more people to watch your new reality show. At some point in time, these ladies became mothers and wives- is this the image they wish to convey to young Christian hopefuls? So, I guess their new message is- ‘use the church until you make it and crawl back when you need their viewer numbers to put you back somewhere in the middle.” I guess they are now showing their true colors and to sit on TBN and give a condescending response to the critics of their show tells me- even they know they are reaching a bit far. I am a big believer in, “when you have to justify a ‘thang’- than you know it may be wrong’.
Because of their thirst for fame , they are now allow camera’s in the hard time of their life. There is nothing Biblical about you leaving your teary-eyed child to go on tour. I am sitting here right now listening to them justify their show on Praise the Lord that aired on May 8, 2012. I can see it in their faces that they know they are wrong and to add even more crap to the whole mess- they just spent the last few minutes talking about ‘seasons’ how we all have seasons in our lives- and yea, well Mary Mary your time was up a long time a go.
I am looking at the way they dress and talk and when did their ministry be about ‘Mary Mary’ and not about Christ. I am sorry but I don’t really know how many souls they wish to win over showing their unkept hair and inner feuds- but very few if any will give their life to Christ watching this show. This show is not about proving that Christians aren’t perfect- its about proving Christians aren’t really Christians behind closed doors.
I honestly hate it when ‘washed up’ has beens get on TBN- trying to sell the Christian community on their latest failure. The reason Mary Mary’s album sales have been tanking is due to their increasing secularization in both the music, appearance and faith. I am sorry but its hard to here anything either one is saying when one looks like they have a pile of crap on their head and the other needs a relaxer.
Yes, Mary and Mary- you are not looking to win anyone over with your ‘best of both worlds sound’. Even you ladies should know you need to be hot or cold but don’t prop yourself up on a Christian network like TBN with your polished and well- rehearsed speaking points and expect me to watch your show and buy your album. As you stated, “know when you season is up”. I am sorry, but TBN consistenly does itself a disservice when it features these ‘luke warm Christians selling a movie, cd or trying to revamp their image’.
All I am hearing from these ‘has beens’ is again their ”worldly” “prosperity gospel”. I can forgive collaborations with T-Pain and other secular artists because they have a soul that needs to be saved too but to sit on TBN and lecture the Christian community on trust and faith in hard-times; clearly you need to DVR your own speech and listen to it yourself.
