ClicktheCity.TV: NBC’s Community has sucked since it came back!

Once Upon a time there once was a study group and a show that revolved around the antics of this rag-tag band of misfits. I enjoyed the original Community but recently I have almost despised ever episode- keep in mind I checked out other forums to see if I was alone and apparently, I am not. I am not sure if it was Britta sleeping with ‘Subway’ or Blade or the Troy-Abed pillow-blanket war or Shirley getting remarried. This season has really sucked for this show that produced such great episodes like Modern WarFare. Put simply, I want the Old Community Back!

Now I am sitting here watching it, yet again, and now Annie and Abed are in the Dreamatorium- the only thing I have found entertaining about this episode was that Abed finally said what everyone was thinking and that is that Annie only wants Britta and Troy to start dating, to free up Jeff but we all know the show revolves around the parental figures Jeff and Britta and to honest when I look into the not so distant future- I see Jeff and Britta arguing over their son’s diapers and what not. I enjoyed the days when Troy and Annie had a bit of a thing- now I am getting mildy annoyed. The show has centered around too much individual character development apart from the group rather than ‘Community College’.

I am not sure if the writers understand that the show revolves around certain constants:

1.) The bickering/ love-hate relationship between Jeff and Britta

2.) The enjoyment of Troy and Abed

3.) The Epicness of Senor Chang

4.) The banter between Shirley and Pierce

5.) The many awkward entrances of the Dean

6.) Jeff hates Rich

6.) The supporting cast: Star Burns (Alex), Fat Neil, Gary, Pop-Pop, Leonard etc etc.

I find with every new episode we are diving further and further into the psyche of the group but moving further and further away from what made the show funny and I am tired of Jeff’s speeches considering he is the worst out of the bunch. I cringe when I catch glimpses of Abed and Annie’s mental instability or Britta reckless promiscuity or even Jeff Daddy issues. These real life issues make the show less funny and more a more serious episode of Children’s Hospital (Adult Swim). Either way, I know these people, through some weird choices in their life, have landed at Greendale Community College- and for that reason they manage to band together to form lasting friendships and relationships and move on. I have said this once and will say it yet again, I rather watch a show with 3 good seasons- than watch a show (like LOST) with 3 to 4 Good seasons followed by 5-10 seasons of confusions, mistakes and the unfortunate unraveling of the pilot. I think, as a general rule of thumb- the writer should watch the pilot before writing every episode to not get sidetracked.

Just one last note to the writers- leave the relationships alone and stick to the study group all surviving community college once 3-credit course at a time.
